NCIS (Navigating Cultural Identity Shock) Via Playful Practice

Stella Ting-Toomey and Leeva Chung

Without a doubt, culture shock is disorienting. On the other hand, culture shock is an exhilarating roller-coaster ride. We experience culture shock when we uproot ourselves from a familiar (cultural) turf to an unfamiliar zone. This session is a comprehensive, hands-on introduction to becoming a confident intercultural trainer or instructor when preparing clients with realistic expectations and applied guidelines for their domestic or global experience. The module is designed for anyone who has a vested interest in expanding knowledge and enriching her or his cultural toolkit from a competent identity negotiation lens.
